Update (Sam)

Yesterday, the government voted on the pension reform. It was fairly close, 177 votes to 153 votes, but in the end they voted to adopt the new pension reform. Starting in 2018, the French will start collecting their pension at 62 rather than 60 and they start getting their full pension at 67 instead of 65. I don't think the unions are happy.  Nor are the students, who all fear there will be no jobs for them to go into if the old people don't retire.

  1. don't the french just love to riot? I am way more concerned about the cutbacks in Britain - the new Tory gov't is swinging the axe in a way not seen since Thatcher. I wonder if you'll notice a difference when you go back there for Christmas. What, 1/2 million laid off from the civil service?

  2. Sambo, not a comment, but a question. This comes from your wonderful recipe page.

We're here at the table having breakfast, and wondering about galettes. I don't think I've ever tasted them. What are they like, as compared to crepes? Do you top them with the same things (chocolate, grand marnier, powdered sugar....)?
