Hastings

(John/Lesley) Hastings was our final stop in the UK, our 11th bed of the trip so far.  Richard and Fiona were fabulous hosts.  Their children Jake, George, Matthew, Keri and Nate were awesome and Mhari and Sam had a great time getting to know them.  Mandy, Kaz and Louie came along the coast from Hove to see us and we met some new friends Helena, Matisse and Amelia (send me correct spellings if I’ve got the names wrong).  The conker theme continued here as there was big horse chestnut tree in their backyard.  There was also a zip line.  Can you believe it?  If you think all English people live in tiny houses with tiny gardens, then think again.

It rained a lot, but besides changing our minds on going to a local bonfire, it didn’t dampen our spirits or wreak havoc on any plans that Richard and Fiona had made.  We still walked the old town in Hastings, had fish and chips on the beach under the shadow of the net huts, rode the kiddie train, did some shoe shopping, went to the castle (Bodiam), had a pub lunch and  still managed to visit, play, chat, watch some British TV and consume copious amounts of good food.
